Efficient coding, responsible design
GreenCoding
Launched in 2020, our GreenCoding initiative helps our employees, freelancers, clients and other partners develop and run software in a more energy-efficient way. Our GreenCoding methodology stresses environmental responsibility through resource-efficient programming. This mitigates the environmental impact by reducing direct and indirect GHG emissions.
Data Protection by Design
The mission of GFT Group Data Protection is to foster trust in digital transformation. This goes beyond the mere protection of personal data. It is about preserving human rights and freedoms in all processing activities. Since 2018, GFT has followed a Data Protection by Design approach, ensuring that processing activities and business practices align with legal and ethical principles of human dignity across all relevant IT systems and projects.
We are building a growing network of certified "Privacy Engineers" to meet the demand for expertise in managing data protection risks in software development. Our robust framework provides a reliable path to trustworthy AI. For example, data protection impact assessments for GFT’s products Wynxx and Smaragd have identified and mitigated potential risks from the outset, ensuring a secure and responsible design.
Our commitment to embedding data protection into daily business has been recognized internationally: In 2023, our Chief Privacy Officer was acknowledged with the prestigious IAPP Vanguard Award EMEA for exceptional leadership in privacy . In 2024, he was honored with the PICASSO Award Europe in the ESG Privacy Initiative category. Judges praised GFT’s strong commitment to Privacy and Data Responsibility in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, supported by compelling evidence of its impact.
Inclusive Coding
The “digital divide” is the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not. People who are digitally excluded are often also financially excluded, dependent on cash, and must pay more for certain goods and services. Digital exclusion can result from geographical limitations of digital services, gender, age, socio-economic situation and education. We believe software designers can help ensure that everyone can participate in society. Our internal Inclusive Coding community ensures that code respects and reflects the diversity of all people who use technology.
By combining these three pillars, Sustainability by Design ensures our technology not only meets functional goals but also supports environmental stewardship, protects individual rights, and fosters social inclusion.
